Understanding Islam

An Evening with Dr. Alan Fox

On Thursday, March 15, at 7:30PM, University of Delaware Professor Dr. Alan Fox will provide an introduction to the Islamic tradition, its theology, history and scriptural links with Judaism and Christianity. Hosted by Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church as part of its Vision 2020 Series, this event is FREE and open to the community. As Professor of Asian and Comparative Philosophy and Religion at the University of Delaware, Dr. Fox is ideally suited to provide a compelling and objective program, respectful of a religion practiced by nearly a billion people worldwide. There was a time when one could make a broad distinction between Eastern and Western cultures, because these separate geographical entities rarely met. But today the world is much smaller and, without common understanding, these different cultures often collide. For all those concerned with human welfare, dignity, peace, and fulfillment, Understanding Islam will provide a stronger foundation for cooperative, constructive, and positive interaction. Lower Brandywine Presbyterian Church is located on Route 52 at 101 Old Kennett Rd, Wilmington, DE 19807, across from Winterthur, within easy driving distance of northern Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania. There is plenty of free parking. And the building is accessible to the handicapped. (Please call in advance to set up a liaison.) Come ‘as you are.’ This event will be held in the church’s social hall. Refreshments will be served. There will be plenty of time for questions from the audience. RSVPs are appreciated for capacity planning at, but not necessary.
