BRANDYWINE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

Outdoor Arts & Crafts Festival

Brandywine Festival of the Arts The countdown is on for one of the premier events of the year— The Brandywine Festival of the Arts (BFA). In less than three weeks, Brandywine Park will transform into a top-notch outdoor art gallery, featuring more than 200 artists and thousands of one-of-a-kind works of art. It’s a great way to say goodbye to summer, on the weekend after Labor Day. Grab a beer or a glass of wine at the festival, and while the kids play in the children’s activity area, art lovers can appreciate the creativity and skill on display at every booth. Works range from paintings to sculpture to jewelry and hand-made crafts. Spend the entire day at the festival. Spread a blanket by the river, and enjoy lunch from the outdoor food court, featuring 10 different types of cuisine. Or take a break with the kids and head to the Brandywine Zoo just across the way— admission during the festival is only $1. Whether you bring the family for a memorable day spent under the tall trees of Brandywine Park, or are searching for that special piece of art, you will be taking part in a Wilmington tradition dating back to 1961. The Brandywine Festival of the Arts has helped launch the careers of several local artists, who still return year after year. And this year, the festival will be focusing on emerging artists who will get the opportunity to introduce their work. The two-day festival launches on Saturday, September 7th, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will continue the next day. Sunday hours will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is only $5, and free for children 12 and under. And once again this year, if you pay admission on Saturday and want to return again Sunday, September 8th, you get in free. The event is pet-friendly, so bring your pup on a leash. There will be no on-site parking, but free shuttle buses will run continuously from nearby Salesianum High School, 1801 N. Broom St., Wilmington, DE 19802. Save the date! It’s never been easier or more fun to support artists at the Brandywine Festival of the Arts.  Contact: Barry Schlecker, Executive Producer, Brandywine Festival of the Arts (302) 690-5555
