TOMORROW - BRANDYWINE FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

SEPT. 7-8, 2019

Brandywine Festival of the Arts Saturday September 7, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. & Sunday September 8, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Brandywine Park, 1001 N. Park Drive, Wilmington (across from the zoo) The sun will be shining this weekend on the Brandywine Festival of the Arts (BFA). More than 200 artists will set up under the treetops of Brandywine Park, transforming the riverside park in Wilmington into an outdoor art gallery. Forecasts call for beautiful fall weather for both days of the festival. Juried artists from just about every discipline will be showing off their talents and selling their creations to thousands of people. Participants include painters, jewelers, potters, photographers and crafters, in what is considered one of the top 100 festivals in the nation, and one of the top three in the State of Delaware. The festival is pet friendly and designed to be a day-long event, geared toward both adults and families with young children. Twelve food trucks featuring a wide range of cuisines, as well as beer and wine, will be available both days. A children’s activity area and super heroes in costume will keep kids entertained— and admission to Brandywine Zoo, just across the street from the festival, will be only $1 this weekend. On Saturday morning at 11 a.m., festival-goers will get an additional treat, as Pure Barre sets a welcoming vibe with a free yoga class outdoors in Brandywine Park’s Music Meadow. Brandywine Festival of the Arts, created in 1961, has launched the careers of several local artists, who still return year after year. This year, the festival will be focusing on emerging artists who will get the opportunity to introduce their work to an estimated 14,000 to 20,000 people. Barry Schlecker, BFA’s executive producer, once again is working closely with his son Rob Schlecker, the event coordinator, to ensure yet another memorable festival. Admission is only $5, and free for children 12 and under. And once again this year, paid admission on Saturday gets you into the festival for free on Sunday. There will be no on-site parking, but free shuttle buses will run continuously from nearby Salesianum High School, 1801 N. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE. It’s never been easier or more fun to support artists at the Brandywine Festival of the Arts. contacts: Barry Schlecker 302-690-5555 Rob Schlecker 302-593-4430 Jim Hoban 302-463-7769
