John M. Scharp Memorial Geck-Go 5K Run/Walk;

Registration at 8a Run at 9a, The Lighthouse Cove, 124 Dickinson Street, Dewey Beach

Post-Race Celebration at The Lighthouse Restaurant immediately following Run/Walk. Free to participants, open to public $5. Activities for kids on beach at The Lighthouse during post-race celebration.

Tug of War Challenge at The Lighthouse Restaurant during the Post-Race Celebration

Teams of 10 Military vs. Civilian LOOKING FOR FIRST RESPONDER AND MILITARY TEAMS!

At Noon thanks to First State Crane the American Flag, the USO Delaware Government Employees Insurance Company’s Flag along with a John M. Scharp Memorial Flag will raise to 208 Feet in the Dewey sky! Join the Scharp Family & John's children for this special flag raising ceremony.

Celebrating the Military continues from 6p-9p

Rusty Rudder at 113 Dickinson Street

$25 per person includes Food & Drink Ticket plus wristband to Admiral Dewey Day events at Rudder including performances by Greaseband, Go Go Gajet and Island Boyz (Must be 21)

Complimentary Pancake Breakfast to all Military from 10a-12p. Event runs from 10a-2p

Regular Brunch Menu is available during the event for non-military attendees

A variety of activities including Wing Eating Contest at Noon and Red, White & Blue styles from The Made Ya Look! Salon.

The race honor’s John M. Scharp who lost his battle with a rare form of sarcoma in April, 2014. John was the owner of the Geico Local Office Delaware and an avid supporter of USO Delaware. He served on the advisory council and assisted with many fundraisers and events to benefit the local branch of the USO. This race will honor his legacy by donating all proceeds to USO Delaware.
