Local authors celebrate new adventure for young readers

Sep 03, 2015 01:53PM ● By J. Chambless

The Hockessin Book Shelf (7179 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin) will welcome Wilmington authors Marisa de los Santos and David Teague on Sept. 22 at 6 p.m. for a free book signing event.

The husband-and-wife team just released the HarperCollins book "Connect The Stars" for readers ages 8 to 13. Marisa de los Santos is a New York Times bestselling author and award-winning poet with a Ph.D. in literature and creative writing. She has published four novels for adults, including “Love Walked In” and “The Precious One.”

David Teague is the author of the picture book “Franklin s Big Dreams” and soon-to-be-released “The Red Hat.” Together, they are the authors of “Saving Lucas Biggs” and “Connect the Stars.” Married for over 20 years, they live with their two children, Charles and Annabel, in Wilmington.

“Connect The Stars” is about two misfits discovering the importance of just being themselves. When 13-year-olds Aaron and Audrey meet at a wilderness camp in the desert, they think their

quirks are enough to prevent them from ever having friends. But as they trek through the challenging and unforgiving landscape, they learn that they each have what it takes to make the other whole. “Connect the Stars” takes on bullying, understanding where you fit in, and learning to live with physical and mental challenges -- all in a joyous adventure kids will love.

There will be book signings, refreshments during the event. For more information, call 302-235-7665.
