Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame: Celebrating 40 Years

The Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame was established in 1981 to recognize the achievements of outstanding Delaware women and their contributions to communities across the state. Members represent a variety of professional fields and backgrounds, including artists, athletes, community advocates, military personnel, public servants, and scientists. To mark the 40th year of the Hall of Fame, the Office of Women’s Advancement and Advocacy commissioned 158 portraits representing every woman inducted to the Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame. Delaware artist, Theresa Walton, created the portraits to be displayed at the Delaware Art Museum. The collection was commissioned to increase the visibility of women in public spaces and ensure that the legacy of Delaware women is acknowledged and celebrated.
