There are three Rotary Clubs in Kennett Square. They meet at different times, on different days and in different venues, but they all have the same goal – to better their community. So, when the capital campaign for the construction of the new Library in Kennett Square began, the present and future leaders of the three clubs met to plan a fun event. This was an easy ask. After all, one of the Rotary International global goals is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy for children and adults. All three Clubs readily formed KARA (Kennett Area Rotary Alliance) and hatched the plan for a fun evening at Galer Winery from 6-9PM. There will be music along with the wine and hors d’oeuvres. Here in Kennett Square, construction is in progress on this new 31,500-foot library and resource center in the downtown area. In addition to providing what we think of as ‘normal’ library functions, it will include a wide range of other resources and become a hub for community educational activities. It will include a 110-seat auditorium, multiple meeting rooms, and 4 tutor rooms. It will become the new home of the Kennett Literacy Program that serves a large area of Southern Chester County and includes classes to bridge the digital literacy divide in our community.
