Concerts on Kentmere: Color and Connection

Pyxis offers an exciting winter program linking contemporary and classical works.

For their finale, Pyxis offers an exciting winter program linking contemporary and classical works. Featured will be the virtuosic Handel/Halvorsen Passacaglia (here arranged for violin and cello) that bridges old and new – Pyxis played it in their very first season at the Museum. Also on the program are two movements (“Pale Yellow” and “Fiery Red”) from Philadelphia composer Jennifer Higdon’s Piano Trio. And to cap their 15-year tenure, Pyxis will play the majestic Brahms Piano Trio in B Major. It’s a concert you won’t want to miss. Handel/Halvorsen Passacaglia (1894) George Frideric Handel (1685-1759) Johan Halvorsen (1864-1935) Piano Trio (2003) Jennifer Higdon (b. 1962) Pale Yellow | Fiery Red Piano Trio No. 1 in B Major, Op. 8 (1854, rev. 1889) Johannes Brahms (1833-1897)
