Sam will explain the assessment process that the plants undergo during the trials to achieve top performer status. Sample signature cocktails prepared by mixologist Diane Keesee, who uses ingredients foraged from common local plants for a new twist in mixology. (Ages 21 and over) This program takes place in person at Mt. Cuba Center 0n Friday, September 20, 2024 (Rain Date: Friday, September 27). About the Instructor: Sam Hoadley is the Manager of Horticultural Research at Mt. Cuba Center where he evaluates native plant species, old and new cultivars, and hybrids in the Trial Garden. He earned his degree in Sustainable Landscape Horticulture from the University of Vermont. Some of his favorite native plants include Amsonia, Baptisia, Clematis, and Silphium. Diane Keesee has a passion for creating interesting signature cocktails, spirit infusions, shrubs, and bitters, using unique seasonal ingredients. She has been involved in hospitality management and the beverage industry for more than 20 years, including having worked for Greenville Country Club and Vicmead Hunt Club.
